Botox Rejuvenation

Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of the delicate underlying facial muscles every time you smile, laugh or frown. The more emotion you show, the deeper these wrinkles and lines are likely to be. While you may have earned every one of your worry lines, you don’t have to show them anymore.

Now, after extensive testing, Botox is approved by the FDA as a safe and effective treatment for wrinkles and frown lines. The procedure known as cosmetic denervation uses Botox Cosmetic to improve the appearance of worry lines, frown lines, laugh lines, crow’s feet and other dynamic wrinkles.

Botox
Botox blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. Botox relaxes the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled, while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.

Are Botox treatments safe?
Botox has been used safely and effectively for over ten years to treat many ophthalmological and neurological disorders. Each year thousands of patients receive Botox treatments for a variety of conditions and it is quickly becoming a popular treatment for reversing the visible signs of aging. You also need ask your doctor what brand he is using because not all Botox are of the same quality.

What is the treatment like?
Cosmetic denervation with Botox is a simple and safe procedure. Using a tiny micro-needle a gauge 30 or 31 needle , a very small amount of Botox Cosmetic is injected, very precisely, into several locations on the face. Because the needle is so fine and only a small amount of liquid is used, the pain associated with the treatment is minimal. No sedation or local anesthetic is required, and you can resume normal activities immediately.

Are there any side effects?
Temporary bruising is the most common side effect. In some cases, Botox Cosmetic can migrate and cause a temporary weakness of nearby muscles. In rare cases, there can be a drooping of an eyelid or asymmetry of facial expression. The risk of any side effect depends on the muscles treated and the expertise of your doctor. Your doctor will discuss this with you in length before your treatment.

What results can I expect?
If dynamic wrinkles make you look older than you are, cosmetic denervation can smooth these out and give you a more youthful and pleasant appearance. However, this procedure cannot improve wrinkles due to aging and sun-damaged skin since they are unrelated to facial muscle contractions. Botox Cosmetic will not improve sagging skin or replace the need for a facelift or brow lift.

What are the limitations of Botox Cosmetic?
Unfortunately, Botox Cosmetic is a temporary solution for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles. The effects last from three to six months. You will need to have treatments about two to three times a year. The early clinical studies indicate that the duration of treatment benefits is increased over time so that you should require Botox Cosmetic less frequently in the future. Also, the duration of effect varies from patient to patient.

Botox and Fillers

What causes wrinkles?

Facial wrinkles and creases begin to appear as the underlying collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down and wear out. While this breakdown is part of the natural aging process, it can also result from excessive squinting, frowning, smoking and smiling. Until recently, many patients thought their only hope was a facelift.

Now, by combining two of the most popular, FDA approved wrinkle fighters, Botox and Hyaluronic acid filler, your doctor can offer a simple, non-surgical alternative to a facelift. Your doctor uses Botox to prevent new wrinkles from appearing and Hyaluronic acid to fill the ones that you already have.

What is Botox?
Botox is the latest advancement in botulinum toxin therapy. It is used to safely, simply and effectively improve the appearance of frown lines, forehead creases and “crow’s feet”. By relaxing these underlying muscles, Botox reduces the wrinkles. Botox is a remarkable treatment for dynamic wrinkles resulting from repeated use of facial muscles.

How does Botox work?
Botox actually prevents wrinkles from appearing by relaxing the underlying muscles so they don’t contract. Botox blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing your normal facial expression to be unaffected.

What is Hyaloronic Acid(HA)?
HA is a natural, synthesized and fully degradable FDA approved hyaluronic acid that has been used in Europe for years. Example of this products are Restylane and Revanesse.

How does Restylane work?
Restylane contains hyaluronic acid in the form of a crystal-clear gel. It is injected into the skin to lift the lip, wrinkle or fold. Once in your skin, Restylane creates volume, resulting in a healthy and vital appearance. When injected into the lip it can restore a more natural and/or sensuous look. In contrast to other biodegradable implants, Restylane is not extracted from animals. This means no risk of allergic reaction. Therefore, Restylane is perfectly safe to use instantly without pre-testing.

What indications respond best to this combination treatment?
Botox is a great treatment for “Crow’s Feet”, forehead lines and the creases between the eyebrows. Restylane is most frequently used to treat deep smile lines, smoker’s lines around the mouth, marionette lines at the ends of the mouth. Restylane can be used to enhance the lip line and add fullness of the lips. Restylane injections are a safe, effective, time-tested, non-surgical wrinkle treatment that provide immediate results.

What can I expect after my Botox and Restylane Treatments?
Studies have shown that combining Botox with Restylane can prolong the results of your treatment.

Following Botox and Restylane injections, normal activities can be resumed immediately. Discomfort is minimal. The treatment sites may have a little swelling, which may last a few hours. There may be some slight bruising. Depending on the area treated, correction usually lasts from three to six months, and sometimes longer. If the lips are treated, initial swelling and tenderness may occur within the first several days, but subsides after two or three days.

Will treatment affect the way I apply cosmetics?
No. In fact, many patients are amazed at how much easier it is to apply their lipstick. Following treatment of the lips the little wrinkles that cause lipstick to “bleed” are gone.

If wrinkles make you look older than you are, a non-surgical facelift can smooth them out and give you a more youthful and pleasant appearance. Botox and Restylane injections can postpone the need for a facelift or brow lift.

Keloid treatment
Keloids are thick, puckered, itchy clusters of scar tissue that grow beyond the edges of the wound or incision. They are often red or darker in color than the surrounding skin. Keloids occur when the body continues to produce the tough, fibrous protein known as collagen after a wound has healed. Keloids can appear anywhere on the body, but they’re most common over the breast bone, on the earlobes, and on the shoulders. They occur more often in dark – skinned than in those who are fair. The tendency to develop Keloids lessens with age. Keloids are often treated by injecting a steroid medication directly into the scar tissue to reduce redness, itching and burning. In some cases, this will also shrink the scar. If steroid treatment is inadequate the scar tissue can be cut out and the wound closed with one more layers of stitches. This is generally an outpatient procedure, performed under local anesthesia. You should be back to work in a day or two, and the stitches will be removed in a day or two, and the stitches will be removed in a few days. A skin graft is occasionally used, although the site from which the graft was taken may then develop a Keloid. No matter what approach is taken, Keloids have a stubborn tendency to recur, sometimes even larger than before. To discourage this, the surgeon may combine the scar removal with steroid injections, direct application of steroids during surgery, or radiation therapy or you may be asked to wear a pressure garment over the area for as long as a year. Even so, the keloid may return, acquiring repeated procedures every few years.
